About the Burlington Community
Burlington got its start in 1882 as a logging camp founded by John P. Millett and William McKay along the Skagit River, and grew into a rail junction town before incorporating in 1902. Local tradition holds that settler T. W. Soule gave the city its name after his hometown of Burlington, Vermont. Today, Burlington is known as "The Hub" of the Skagit Valley, sitting at the crossroads of Interstate 5 and State Route 20, roughly midway between Seattle and the Canadian border.

Burlington anchors one edge of the Skagit Valley, a region famous each April for the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, which has drawn visitors to the valley's tulip and daffodil fields since 1984. Beyond the flower fields, Burlington is a jumping-off point for camping, hiking, river walks, fishing, boating, and golfing within about 30 minutes of town. Chuckanut Drive, the scenic byway also known as State Route 11, begins near Burlington and winds northwest along the coastline through small towns and the Chuckanut Mountains on its way to Bellingham.
Our funeral home at 809 W Orchard Dr #2 in Bellingham is about 30 minutes north, an easy drive up Interstate 5.
