Elizabeth "Betty" Hordyk Visbeek Haldemann

May 30, 1929 ~ November 14, 2020 (age 91)

Obituary

Elizabeth “Betty” Hordyk Visbeek Haldemann was welcomed into the Kingdom of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 14, 2020.

Betty was born in Coupeville, Whidbey Island, Washington, to Henry and Maria Hordyk.  She grew up on a dairy farm and attended schools in Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island. Following high school, she went to The Reformed Bible Institute in Grand Rapids, Michigan where she met her first love, Clarence “Jack” Visbeek. They were married in June of 1953.  Jack passed away in a tragic car accident in 1968.

On June 9, 1984, she married John Haldemann of Chinook, Montana, and she enjoyed 36 years of marriage to her “rancher.”

Betty loved animals, and any visit to the ranch was greeted by guinea hens, ducks, chickens, bunnies, goats, sheep, dogs, cats, horses, and, of course, their livelihood, cattle.  She even tamed a buck deer and tied caution tape around its antlers to protect it from hunters. She loved growing things in her garden and living under “the wild Montana sky.”

Betty loved her family and her community, especially her churches - the Chinook Assembly and the Cowboy Prairie Church. She enjoyed singing, socializing and praising God.

Betty is survived by her husband, John Haldemann, and children James (Janet) Visbeek, Joseph “Todd” Visbeek, Terri (Jake) Schuler, Nomi (Frank) Albano, Dale (Pam) Haldemann and Alba Haldemann. She has 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Preceding Betty in death were her sons Lloyd Visbeek and Johnnie Haldemann, and her sisters Tena Rylaarsdam and Cornelia Hordyk.
