Obituary

Charles “Chuck” E. Anway, age 74, of Bellingham, Washington, passed away at the Whatcom Hospice House on Thursday, January 28, 2021.  He was born July 11, 1946 in Leon Iowa to parents Mark Everett and Gladys Lyle (Butler) Anway. Chuck spent most of his life in Whatcom County, he graduated from Bellingham High School with the Class of 1964. And served his country in the U.S. Army for 20 years retiring in 1984 with the rank of Master Sergeant, he did three and 1/2 tours during the Vietnam War where he received a Bronze Star, Purple Heart and a Meritorious Unit Citation.  Chuck graduated Medical Assistant School and worked for AT&T Broadband as a Supervisor in the Customer Service division. He was very active in various Service Organizations including Bellingham Bay Lodge #44 F&AM, Valley of Bellingham Scottish Rite, life member of the Cariboo Lodge #4 in Barkerville, B.C. Canada and the Albert J. Hamilton Post #7, American Legion of Bellingham, was District Commander for District #15, VFW and was past Post Commander of Custer VFW #9474. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his children Shilo Marc Anway and wife Corinne, Cacee’ Re’ and husband Heath Lee  and Kelli Renee Nuessen and husband Rick; grandchildren Katie, Sarah, Grace, Mason, Hunter, Ryder and Belle; great grandchildren Logan, Molly and Weston; sister Margaret Jo Wyngaert and numerous other relatives and friends.  A visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM for Chuck at Good News Fellowship Church, 1252 West Axton Rd, Ferndale, WA 98248, followed by a funeral service at 2:30 PM. Chuck will be buried with Military Honors at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th Street, Kent, WA 98042, on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 10:30 AM. Family suggests memorial donations be made to either Shriners Hospital for Children-Spokane, WA or the American Diabetes Association of WA State.
