Waltraud "Trudy" Myers

Waltraud “Trudy” Myers, age 79, of Bellingham was born on April 9, 1944, in Mainz, Germany to Georg and Julianne (Griese) Schaefer.

Waltraud was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Annemarie Hildenbeutal and Rosalinda Dickenscheid.

Waltraud is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles; daughter Stefanie; son Charly (Amy); grandchildren McKenzie Llapitan (Brian), Zachary Myers (Taylor), and Megan Myers; great grandchildren Ryker, Ellie, Zachary Jr, and Brody; and her special friends, Connie Mydland and Holly Rasmussen, both of whom meant so much to her.

She met her husband Charles Myers at a bus stop while he was stationed in Germany with the US Army. They married on January 2, 1968. They lived 10 years in Mississippi before moving to Bellingham, WA in 1977.

Waltraud loved traveling, spending time with family and the time she spent in her German Club “Circle of Friends”. Anyone who had the honor to meet Trudy fell in love with her. Waltraud’s smile, laughter, and love of life instantly spread joy to others. She was a fantastic cook and baker and enjoyed spending time in her lovely garden. Waltraud adored children! She cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and would drop anything she was doing to play with them. Christmas was Waltraud’s favorite holiday. She spent endless hours decorating and baking - making it a magical time for everyone in the family.

Waltraud passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, from complications due to Parkinson’s Disease. She was surrounded by her loving family.

There will be a celebration of Waltraud’s life on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the Cedar Grove Clubhouse located at 4915 Samish Way, Bellingham, WA 98229.
