Vern Howard Campbell was born on December 13, 1946 in Tomahawk, Wisconsin to Howard and Esther Campbell. At a young age, the family moved to Hemet, CA. During his childhood, Vern served as Chaplin in the Boy Scouts. He played football for Hemet High School where he received the All Southern California Tackle Award. He graduated in 1965.

Vern met Evelyn Kudsk in 1964 and they married in 1967. Vern served in the army from 1966-1969 as a truck driver. He was first stationed in San Francisco and then Frankfurt, Germany. After his service in the military, Vern and Evelyn moved to Whatcom County where they built their home and raised three children.

Vern worked at Intalco for 41 ½ years, retiring in October 2010. He was an avid Seahawks fan and enjoyed fishing, boating and camping with his family. Vern always enjoyed barbeques, bonfires and a good time with friends and family.

Vern is survived by his wife Evelyn of 45 years, daughter Amy Boynton (Kelley), sons Paul (Jennifer) and Nathan (Amy), grandchildren Trevin, Emma, Bryleigh, Carson, Lila and Cannon. He also leaves behind one brother, Darrell in CA, three sister-in-laws, a brother-in-law as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Vern with Military Honors will be held at Nooksack Valley United Methodist Church, 203 E. Lincoln St., on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 2pm. with Pastor David E. Small officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Whatcom Hospice Foundation (360-733-1231 or www.HospiceHelp.org).
