Teri Lynn Hilt passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, in Bellingham, Washington, with her two boys holding her hands. She was 67.

Born on October 4, 1958, in Bellingham, Washington, Teri spent her life rooted in the community she called home. She will be remembered most for her kind heart and infectious smile, and for the steady, loving way she cared for the people around her. Our beloved Teri is now in her heavenly home, and those who knew her carry forward the warmth she so freely shared.

Teri loved her Lord quietly, her family fiercely, and everyone else unconditionally. That love shaped the way she moved through life and touched the lives of so many. She especially loved children. No matter where she went, she would find them, or they would find her. It was a quality that became one of the clearest expressions of who she was, and it remained constant throughout her life.

Her work reflected that same gift for connection. Teri spent several years at the WWU bookstore, where she came to know many young people, and later devoted 25 years to the Lynden School District. There, she was blessed with many close friendships among her coworkers and with the many children who crossed her path. The relationships she built over the years became an important part of her life and a lasting part of her legacy.

In 2015, Teri was diagnosed with early onset dementia, ultimately Alzheimer's. The diagnosis was devastating, but it also made her more determined to live life to the fullest. And she did just that. Alzheimer's may have taken away her memory, but it could not touch her heart, her soul, or her ever-present smile. Through the years that followed, she continued to leave an impression of grace, warmth, and love on the people around her.

Teri leaves behind her loving husband, Marty; her son, Matt and partner Kayleen; and her son Josh and wife Kylie. She also leaves behind her three precious grandchildren; her sister Lori; her two brothers, Joel and Darren, and their respective spouses; and aunts and cousins too numerous to list.

She is deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Those who knew Teri also know that she left a piece of her heart in each and every one of them. Her memory lives on in the love she gave so freely, in the smiles she inspired, and in the many lives she touched over the years.
