Susan Marie Elliott

Susan Marie Elliot was born on December 13, 1958 in Bellingham Washington, and died in her home on September 13, 2018, after a long battle with her declining health. Susan was preceded in death by her beloved father Larry Peterson, brother Scott Peterson and recent son Cain Cruckshank, may they rest in peace. Susan and her mother Marge had a special relationship and a strong bond.  Susan loved her family. She especially loved her big brothers Scott and Brian and niece Deon and nephew Lee Peterson. Susan was a devoted daughter, mother, friend and wife. She loved hosting the family festivities with her  4 boys, Brian, Cain, Spencer and Ian. She loved baking holiday cookies and doing crafts with her beautiful granddaughters Kayla and Kayden. Susan loved the holidays and would always put her Christmas tree up on her Birthday, December 13th. She loved her home, her favorite being her small farm on Pacific Hwy. There she found joy with her boys, gardening vegetables and growing flowers her favorite being the Sunflower and knew how to grow a beautiful rose bush. Susan loved to can and preserve anything and everything. Each summer she would can as many quarts of applesauce for her boys as she could. She also loved her animals; over the years she had many cats, rabbits, goats, chickens and ducks.  Susan was an excellent cook, and could always be found cooking for her beloved boys and family. She prepared beautiful meals with love. Susan attended Parkview Elementary, Shuksan Middle School & Bellingham High School, with the graduating class of 1977.  Susan attended Whatcom Community College, graduating with honors in 1997. She always intended to further her career at the University level and had dreamt of going to law school. However, her life took a different direction and she became a support associate at Whatcom Community College, tutoring many students in English and Math.  Academia was where her heart lied. Susan was a beautiful poet, artist & musician. She found joy in her music and taught herself to play guitar.  She wrote many songs, her most notable was “the Prozac Song”. She was very talented with her drawing in black ink, calligraphy; she loved her free-style drawing of flowers, poetry, words, & ornate scripts. Susan found her beloved husband Tim and they were married for 13 years. She loved him and found peace & solace and security in their love. Together they loved and found joy in their bunnies, Tippy & Huggo and their many cats and her love for birds. When you think of Susan you hear of her friends saying some of their fondest memories with their dear friend was having her play her guitar and singing her songs around a fire. Susan had a contagious laugh that when you heard you couldn’t help but laugh with her, her beauty was stunning and she couldn’t live without her metallic lipstick, it just made sense.  Susan’s scent was of Jasmine but only the most particular brand…the best. This was her mother’s home fragrance and Susan’s signature scent. Susan was the best listener, with the kindest heart.  Susan knew life; she knew how to help with the bumps and how to celebrate the good moments.  She was real.. she was Susan. Music was everything to Susan, her favorite artists are too numerous to list, but Crosby Steals Nash and Young was one of her all time favorites.  Her gifted artwork and poetry will be cherished by all.  Let’s not forget when she put her art into cake decorating she was excellent at it and was very proud. Susan so enjoyed and treasured attending her 40th class reunion; she rekindled her friendships and shared her love of Christ with her classmates.  Susan always had a strong faith and always had Jesus in her heart and she will be greatly missed here on earth, as there is no one else like Suz!
