Stephen Turnberg

Stephen Franklin Turnberg died peacefully Wednesday, April 10, 2013 in Bellingham, Washington of complications following a stroke. He was born in Santa Barbara, California on July 25, 1946 to Stanley and Marjorie Turnberg. Steve grew up in Santa Barbara, and leaves behind four siblings, Anne (Larry) of Reno, NV, Tom (Bonnie) of Grants Pass, OR, and Neil (Lisa), and Lee (Mike) all of Sequim, WA, as well as many nieces and nephews. In 1970 he moved to Whatcom County (he called it God’s country the first time he drove through the area) and married Nancy Allen in 1971. He spent many years working at the Great Western Lumber Company in Everson, WA. Steve is survived by his ex-wife Nancy, three sons, Matt (Connie), Paul, and Tim, and two daughters, Charity and Gidget (Shane). He is also survived by eleven grand-children and five great-grandchildren, and close friend Cheryl Walston. This May would mark seven years of sobriety for him. He was a friend to many in the recovery community, putting the needs of others above his own. Steve will leave a large void in our hearts, but he has gone on ahead now to be with his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Blaine Christian Fellowship, 902 Adelia St., Blaine, WA 98230.
