Sophia "Louise" Jansen Lich

Sophia “Louise” Jansen Lich, age 93, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at her home in Bellingham with family at her side. She was born December 27, 1919 to Gerrit and Johanna (Scholten) Jansen in Litchville, North Dakota. She moved with her family to Lynden, Washington in 1927, and resided most of her life in Bellingham.

Louise married her loving husband Donald Lich (deceased October 14, 1991) on June 18, 1941, and was a devoted housewife and mother of 3 children, Rendall R. Lich (deceased March 2010), Wayne Lich and wife Joyce of Ward Cove, Alaska, Donna Lich-Berry of Bellingham, Washington, one grandson Trevor Berry, one great grandson Cole Berry, one step grandson Ritch Wutzke and wife Deedra and 5 step great grandchildren.

She was one of 12 children, Louise is survived by one brother, Al Jansen, one sister, Gertrude Blondheim, numerous nieces and nephews, whom she is so proud of and many friends who will dearly miss her.

Louise was very active as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. It was her greatest joy, until her death, to share her faith with all those she came in contact.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, April 18, 2013, 3:00 – 6:00 PM at the Jansen Art Center, 321 Front Street, Lynden, Washington 98264. Center phone 360-354-3600.
