Socorro S Garcia
February 12, 1946 - July 18 2022
Socorro has been reunited with her daughter, Anna Maria, mother, Maria Luisa, and many other loved ones who have passed on. Socorro was a kind, loving, and accepting woman, who even in her last moments was thinking of others instead of herself. The impact that Socorro had on the lives of many will be long-lasting and forever cherished. Socorro blessed many with her smile throughout her 76 years. Shortly after turning 18 she moved to the United States with her mother and siblings. In September of 1967 she joined the HEP (High School Equivalency Program) at Washington State University. This is where she met her lifelong match, her husband, Juan “Johnny” Garcia. They were married August 17th, 1968, Socorro at the age of 22 and Johnny at 18. The love they shared has been an inspiration to their children and countless others around them. A lifelong Catholic, she contributed and was a member of the church from early on and her faith was something that was an extremely important aspect of her life. Her acceptance of all people was a trait that she displayed throughout her life. She raised her children and countless others and played an important role in the lives of many more. As hard as the passing of a loved one always is, we choose to remember the love, strength and faith that Socorro demonstrated in all parts of her life. Socorro was the matriarch of her family and her family was the focal point of all she chose to do. Socorro has built a caring, loving, and close-knit family who will always be grateful for this blessing. The grace that she displayed throughout her life, whether through pain, hardship and loss or joy, love and happiness has been an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She is survived by her husband Juan "Johnny", children Juan (Kristen), Ernesto (Connie), and Angelica (Deiondre). Her Grandchildren, Bryce (Kanishya), Bianca, Kairese, and Bishop. There will be a viewing, Thursday July 28th from 4pm - 5pm at Sig’s Funeral and Cremation Services (809 W Orchard Dr #2, Bellingham, WA 98225). A funeral mass Friday July 29th at 10am at St. Joseph Catholic Church (5781 Hendrickson Ave, Ferndale, WA 98248), with a graveside service following at Enterprise Cemetery (7041 Vista Dr. Ferndale, WA 98248). A celebration of life at Hovander Park at approximately 1:00pm is where we will gather for food and fellowship (feel free to bring a dish to share, but more importantly yourself). Everyone is invited to attend any or all events in the celebration of Socorro. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be donated to Whatcom County Hospice House, St. Joseph Catholic Church, or any other charity of your choosing.
