Shirley Elaine Gregory (Sunde), aged 82, passed away on February 20, 2025, in Mt. Vernon, WA. Born on September 27, 1942, in White Salmon, WA, she spent many fulfilling years at Sampson Ocean Systems before transitioning to a bartending career at the Cedars Tavern in Ferndale.
Shirley's life was marked by her adventurous spirit and love for travel. Alongside her husband, Jan Gregory, she embarked on numerous RV journeys, including memorable trips to the river property and Cherry Point for grand crab feasts. They celebrated New Year's in their RV in Glacier, where family sledding was a cherished tradition. A regular at the Arestad Ceramic Shop, Shirley dedicated her Thursdays to ceramics. Her social calendar was filled with Friday night board games with friends and weekly card games with the "card ladies," where she enjoyed her favorite game, "hand and foot." An avid sports fan, Shirley never missed a Mariners game and spent her retirement years in Yuma, Arizona, as snowbirds before settling there permanently.
Shirley leaves behind her loving husband, Jan Gregory; daughter, Cathy (Andy) Garcia; sister-in-law, Judy Tice; and niece, Sandy Goforth. She was preceded in death by her parents, Selmer and Pearl Sunde; son, Robert Gregory; brother, Paul Tice; sister, Earnestine Essex; and brother, Don Tice.
Shirley's life will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew her, as she truly made the world a livelier place. A graveside service will be held at Enterprise Cemetery in Ferndale, WA on Wednesday, July 30th at 11am. All are welcome to join.
