Bellingham

A graveside service for Sharon L. Larson, who died Jan. 25 at age 85, will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23 at Greenacres Memorial Park. Born in Casper, Wy. to Tom E. and Marjorie L. Day, Sharon came to Lynden while very young. The family moved to Bellingham where she attended Roosevelt Elementary, Whatcom Middle, and Bellingham High schools, graduating in 1956. She worked as a bookkeeper at Weisfields Jewelers and in 1957, married Oliver G. “Bud” Larson and they had a son and a daughter. When her children were old enough, she studied at Bellingham Business College then worked in the office of Mayor Reg Williams and in the county courthouse. She loved big-band music, cooking, baking, putting up preserves, needlework, gardening, swimming, travel and was an avid reader of history and literature. Preceding her in death were her ex-husband, Bud; brothers David, Charles, James, and Patrick. Survivors include her sister, Shirley (Paul) Montgomery, brothers Dennis, Bruce, and Jon; children Jon (Diana) and Julie, grandson Jordan, (Kailey) and two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Her family thanks North Cascades Health and Rehabilitation for its staff’s professional and compassionate care during her final years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Whatcom Hospice. Sig’s Funeral Services cared for arrangements. Pastor Edward Harrod will officiate.
