Roger Dale Engler

He was born on Dec 12, 1943, to parents Gus Jr. and Fern Engler in Bellingham Washington. He was the second of 6 children and worked hard on the family farm in Ferndale.

After his graduation from Ferndale High School, he joined the Army, then the National Guard from 1962-1970.

On July 9, 1965, he married the love of his life Ilene Visser, they raised 3 children in Ferndale Washington. He worked in construction from 1964-1975, then took a job at Alcoa to be closer to family from 1975-2003, and finally at Sauder from 2003-2010 where he retired.

He leaves behind his wife Ilene Engler, children Lisa (James) Debeeld, Dustin (Jana) Engler, Misty (Joe) Curtright. Grandchildren Chad, Christina, Brandon (Schuyler) and Kaitlin Chandler, Brayden (Harley) Caleb Engler, Taylor (Sheila) Mackenzie, Jacob, Levi Curtright, and adopted grandson Jose Aguilera, great grandchildren Taylen, Mason, Sofia and Eliana.

Siblings Lena Schweigert, Bonnie (Jim) Asplund, Dwaine (Linette) Engler, Don (Ravina) Engler, Diane (John) Carter and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church, 5759 Vista Drive, Ferndale, WA 98248 on Sunday, Feb 22,2026 at 2:00pm.
