Robert Vance Larson, a lifelong resident of Bellingham, Washington, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born in Bremerton, Washington, on September 3, 1936, to Louis and Grace Larson, Robert was the second of three children. The family moved to Bellingham when he was just three years old, and it was there that he built a life rooted in community, curiosity, and family.
Robert served in the U.S. Navy as an electrician aboard the USS Hornet, an experience that shaped his work ethic. After his military service, he worked at the Bellingham Golf and Country Club and eventually became Superintendent. He later transitioned into real estate, working for two decades in the Birch Bay area.
In 1968, Robert married Heather, and together they raised four children: Gary, David, Bethany, and Andrea. He was a devoted father who loved sharing stories, laughter, and life lessons with his family.
One of Robert’s greatest passions was gold prospecting. It was more than a pastime—it was a way of life. He even wrote a book on the subject and was known for handing out signed copies to those he met along the way.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Heather, of 57 years; his children, Gary, David, Bethany, and Andrea; and his grandchildren, Cherish, Flynn, and Carter. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren—Maxwell, Grace, Matthew, and John Ryan. In addition, he leaves behind a large extended family, including cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 19 at 2:00 PM at Bayview Cemetery in Bellingham. All are welcome.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his adventurous spirit, and the deep love he held for his family. Robert’s presence will be missed, but his memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew him.
