Robert Dean “Rob” Flaherty, age 77, of Bellingham, Washington, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Rob was born in Ferndale, Washington, on December 5, 1948, to Robert Sr. and Darlene Flaherty. He was raised in Ferndale and graduated from Ferndale High School in 1967.
In Bellingham, Rob met Ginger, the love of his life. The two were married in 1976. Rob entered the United States Air Force in 1968 and served much of his time in Korea. Following his service in the Air Force, he continued his commitment to his country by joining the Air National Guard.
Rob took great pride and joy in being a grandfather. He cherished the time he spent walking, playing, and camping with his grandchildren, as well as shopping with Brielle. He was also delighted to learn that he would soon welcome his first great-grandchild.
Rob is survived by his beloved wife, Ginger Flaherty; his son, Troy Flaherty, and daughter-in-law, Vicki Flaherty; his grandchildren, Cody Flaherty, Kyler Flaherty, Kegan Flaherty and Brielle Flaherty; his sisters, Kay Schultie, Sue Flaherty, and Erin Morrow; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his son, Tony Flaherty; his brother, Mark Flaherty; his parents, Robert Sr. and Darlene Flaherty; and numerous other family members.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Eden Hospice.
