Robert Michael Barness, Jr.

Robert Michael Barness Jr. age 36, our beloved son, brother, and nephew, went home to Heaven on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.  Rob was born April 14, 1987 in Canoga Park/West Hills, CA to Elaine and Robert Barness Sr.

Rob dearly loved his family, friends, and the great outdoors. He enjoyed metal detecting, antique shows, hikes in the woods, children, humor, holidays, and all animals.  Rob was such a kind-hearted person.

He graduated Lynden High School, Bellingham Technical College and attended Whatcom Community College, all in the same year. Rob could repair just about anything – roofs, appliances, chainsaws, cars and so much more.  He was an avid rock and coin collector. 

Rob is survived by his mother, Elaine Barness (Don Cummins) and father Robert Barness Sr.; sibling Nephon Smith; aunts and uncles - Christine Itter (Dennis), Denise Ross (Ricky), Debbie Parra (Rick); cousins - Juliann Itter, Cherie Breting (Paul), Elizabeth Itter, Jeremy Washington (Rossana), Amber Washington, Rikee Ross and numerous other relatives.  Rob was preceded in death by his much loved grandmother (Granny) Virginia Poulsen and grandparents, Clifford and Mary Lou Barness. 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Lynden Community Church 680 Grover Street, Lynden, WA 98264 with Pastor Jonathan Lee officiating. Burial to follow at Monumenta Cemetery located at 1980 Front Street, Lynden, WA 98264.
