Raymond “Red” Nordby passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on Sunday, August 26, 2018 in the comfort of the Whatcom Hospice House in Bellingham. Raymond was born and raised in Whatcom County and where he continued to live his life. He worked at Bellingham Ship Yards and then moved on to work for Mobil Oil Refinery in Ferndale until he retired. After retirement he went on to work for the City of Ferndale for 8 years working as a Grounds Keeper at the City Parks. He married his loving wife Marjorie November 8, 1980. Together they enjoyed traveling in their motor home and the occasional flights to Reno for a bit of trying their luck at the Blackjack Table. Red still enjoyed his rides to the Silver Reef to try his luck there. Red was very involved in the Black Powder Gun Club and spent many weekends at their events. He also had a passion for woodworking and loved giving the things he made to family and friends.
Raymond was preceded in death by his loving wife Margie, sons Allan and Gordon Nordby. He is survived by daughters-in-law Nancy Nordby and Ulli Nordby; step daughters Elaine (Dave) Anderson and Tina (Carl) Karvonen; 5 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He will be missed. “See you in a little bit Red.” Always his reply “God willing and the Creek don’t rise”
