Pearl Adeline Mosen

Pearl Adeline Mosen (Stielow) died peacefully January 16, 2019 in Bellingham, Washington. She was 96. God is holding her in the palm of his hand. Pearl was born June 13, 1922 to John and May Stielow, and raised in Clinton, Minnesota. She was one of six siblings. In 1956, Pearl moved to Bellingham to raise her children.

Pearl began school early because her older siblings took her along to classes. Ahead of her class, she graduated from high school a year early. She married three times—Maynard Nelson who died in World War II, Alvin Zimbelman (deceased) and Don Mosen (deceased).

She moved her young family from Minnesota to Bellingham in 1954. She worked at several county establishments including Hillview Dairy and then Georgia Pacific from which she retired. Pearl was an avid hiker and belonged to the Mount Baker Hiking Club, and enjoyed dancing at the Vets and Elks clubs. She loved to have family gatherings where she cooked and provided wonderful meals. Pearl loved a good potluck! Her famous goulash and homemade pies were her signature dishes. Pearl was a longtime, faithful member of Immanuel Bible Church. She was a member of VFW Post 1585 Ladies’ Auxiliary and American Legion Post 7.

Pearl's children are: daughter Sandra Bengen (Ben), daughter Connie Pierce (Stephen), son Dale Zimbelman (Julie), daughter Lonna Mosen and daughter-in-law Melinda Nelson. Also, she is survived by brothers Marvin Stielow and Dick Stielow (Alice), eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the United States. She was preceded in death by son Leonard Nelson and grandson Neil Zimbelman.
