At age 92 Pearl Janette (Amundson) Brogdon, went peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 17, 2017, at Shuksan Health Care Center, Bellingham, WA. Following the birth of her two older brothers, she was born on January 16, 1925, in Valley City, North Dakota, to Sam and Bertha Amundson. When she was twelve years old, Pearl and her family moved to Ferndale, WA.
She married John Brogdon in December 1946. Due to John’s service in the Air Force, they travelled and lived in several places, which included England and Germany. She enjoyed these experiences of living overseas. During their marriage, they welcomed two daughters, Arlene (Hartung) and Linda (Hawkins).
Pearl was an active member of Immanuel Bible Church, where she served many years, working in Vacation Bible School and Awana, and participating in Bible Studies. She worked more than thirty years at Morse Hardware before retiring.
Pearl enjoyed serving others by praying fervently, visiting them, helping to send out letters for several missionaries, and helping others by taking them to various doctors’ appointments. She especially enjoyed going out to lunch and playing games. She loved her daughters and their families very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Lloyd and Raymond (June) Amundson, sister-in-law, Joyce, and daughter, Linda Hawkins (Marvin). She is survived by her daughter, Arlene Hartung (Rocky), six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter, who was born a few days before her passing.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 3 pm at Immanuel Bible Church, 2000 W. North St., Bellingham. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Bible Church, designated to Sherree (granddaughter) and Steve Francis, who are serving with SIM in Nepal.
