With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Patricia M. Sawyer, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us on August 20, 2026. Patty, as she was affectionately known, was born on June 1, 1949, in the charming town of Ellensburg, Washington, to Donald E. and Muriel P. Hickembottom (Blodgett). She was a beacon of love and laughter, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Patty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, known for her unwavering faithfulness and the warmth she brought to her family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Paula, her son Shawn Trail, and her grandson Avery Austin. Her memory will be lovingly cherished by her surviving family: her children, Nick Trail (Kim), Noel Austin, Becky Parr (Jason), Tawyna Axelson (Jason), Tracy Price, and Michael Sawyer; her sister, Pam Shelton (Don); and her beloved grandchildren, Aimee Shelton (Brian), Lydia Austin, Noah Austin, Jake Willmorth (Kacey), Josh Willmorth, Tony Trail (Liz), Brennan Scheib (Hannah), Abbie Scheib, Samantha, Madeline, Lillian, Daniel, and Ryanne. 

After dedicating years of service, Patty retired from Rite Aid, where she was known for her kindness and dedication. In her leisure time, Patty and her husband, Ben, found joy in traveling and going on cruises; they were consummate hosts, always ready to entertain with lively parties and BBQs. Patty's nurturing spirit was evident in her love for small children, with her home often bustling with the laughter of her cherished grandchildren. She also had an impressive collection of Betty Boop and Elvis Presley memorabilia, reflecting her vibrant and playful spirit. 

Patty's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Lynden Christen Nursing Home, where Patty spent her final days. Their exceptional care and compassion treated Patty as if she were their own mother, providing comfort to her and her family during her final journey. 

In honor of Patty's memory, donations can be made to the Lynden Christen Nursing Home at 855 Aaron Dr., Lynden, WA. This gesture will continue Patty’s legacy of love and generosity, supporting the place that provided her with such dignity and care in her final days.

 As we bid farewell to Patty, we hold onto the countless memories and the love she shared with all of us. Her spirit lives on in our hearts, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
