Ofelia L. Ayala

Ofelia Loya Ayala “Yaya” , age 60, was born August 13, 1952 (although due to superstition she always celebrated on the 14^th) received her wings on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. Our mom was born in Corpus Cristi, Texas to Jose Antonio SR. and Maria Loya.

At a young age, she learned to care for others and always put everybody else’s needs before hers. On November 12, 1970, she married Miguel Ayala. In 1975, she fulfilled her dream and became a mother when they adopted Mari-Zol. She was blessed again in 1981 when they adopted Miranda and Timoteo. In October 1985, she got a BIG surprise…she was pregnant and due soon! In December of that year, she gave birth to their “Miracle,” Milagro.

Her self-described passion in life was “holding babies.” She enjoyed water aerobics at BAC and volunteering at Cornwall and Roosevelt Church. Ofelia’s greatest joy was being “Gamma” to Taylor, Xindi and Parkee.

She leaves her legacy with her parents Jose and Maria, her siblings Janie Wilson, Tony Loya, Mimi Gere and Diana Unick: who blessed her with nieces and nephews Christopher, Brianne, Matthew, Jacob, Sara, Clayton, Alanna and Marissa. Who blessed her with great nieces and nephews Shelbie, Mya, Noah, Shane, Natalie, Lily, Tucker, Ryley, Zachary, Peyton, Bailey and Aidan. Also, three special brother in-laws Glen Gere, Milt Unick, Cuate Ayala, and sister in-law Yolanda Martinez.

She was preceded in death by an infant sister Lydia Loya, former husband Miguel Ayala, nephew Roger Komac and brother in-law Claude Wilson.
