Octavia “Oudy” Burling

Born on October 28, 1926 in Akra, North Dakota, to Einar and Helga Thorlakson, Octavia Freda Thorlakson was the second child of six children. Oudy went to be with her Lord on November 12, 2012, after a long fight with dementia.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Duane Burling; children; Janice (Lee) Wiebe, Shirley (Paul) Klineman, Sheron (David) Workentin, Terrie Burling, and Mike (Beryl) Burling; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. A devoted mother and grandmother, God and family came first to Oudy. Oudy and Duane spent years volunteering at local nursing homes bringing smiles to the faces of all they encountered. Family would like to thank Whatcom County Hospice and Visiting Nurses for all of their loving care.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 23, 2012, at 2:00 PM, at Peace Arch Assembly of God, 549 Cherry St., Blaine.
