Norma Elaine Jacobson
October 1, 1937 to July 29, 2026
In the early morning of July 29th, Norma Jacobson passed away at home, surrounded by her children and into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior.
She was born on October 1st, 1937, on the Friberg Farm in Ferndale to Gunner and Hazel Friberg. She was one of eight children, and with five sisters and two brothers there was never a shortage of love and laughter. She married her high school sweetheart Floyd Jacobson November 22nd, 1958, a marriage that lasted almost 67 years.
Floyd and Norma shared many adventures together. There was farming, home building, some travel, and together they built their business West Mechanical, serving Whatcom and Island counties for over 20 years.
Norma was known for her baking; bread, spritz cookies, apple pie, and, most famously, her cinnamon rolls. Her children and grandchildren were always excited to receive a pan of cinnamon rolls to take home after a visit or holiday gathering. One of the most treasured gifts each Christmas was a container of her homemade Chex Mix, a tradition she spent weeks planning and preparing for each member of the family, as well as for friends.
Floyd and Norma were members of both Northwest Baptist Church and Northlake Community Church.
Floyd died peacefully last year and Norma missed him deeply. We can only imagine the joy of their reunion in Heaven. Together they had three children; daughter Laura (Carl), and sons Douglas (Ruth) and Phillip (Jennifer). They especially found joy in their eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren who loved spending time playing in Gramma’s Toy Attic.
The Jacobson Family would like to thank Whatcom Hospice and the care team at Home Instead for the warm, tender care you provided our mother during her brief illness. In lieu of flowers we request donations be made to Whatcom Hospice House. A private interment took place this fall.
