Nora A. Wiebe-Sundstrom was born on April 8, 1931, in Corn, Oklahoma, to Dave and Susie Fast, in a close-knit Mennonite family. During her early years, the family moved first to Texas and later settled in Whatcom County, Washington.
Nora married John Wiebe, and together they built a life and raised five children on their farm near Birch Bay. Her children were her greatest pride and joy. She was a devoted member of the Mennonite church and actively involved in Bible Study Fellowship.
In the 1970s, Nora followed her creative passion and started Weebee Ceramics in the basement of her home. What began as a small hobby blossomed into a full-fledged business, eventually expanding into a large shop. Over the course of 32 years, she taught ceramic classes, ran the business, and traveled to craft fairs and shows across Washington. It was truly a family endeavor, with her children frequently lending a hand over the years.
In 1997, Nora married John Sundstrom. The two shared 21 joyful years of marriage until his passing in 2020. Together, they enjoyed traveling the country and embracing life together.
Nora is survived by her children: Larry (Kathy) Wiebe, Joanne (John) Zylstra, Barb Groen (Brian Waller), Patsy (Brian) Markham, and Doug (Twila) Wiebe; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also lovingly remembered by the children and grandchildren of John Sundstrom.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 20th at 4:00 PM at the home of Barb Groen, 5926 Hannegan Road, Bellingham, WA 98226.
