Nicole Marie Notaras, age 55 of Bellingham, WA, passed away at Hospice House on July 19, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Nicole was born March 18, 1963 in Ellensburg, Washington to her parents Anthony George and Karen Dee (Overbey) Notaras She grew up in the Seattle area, but also spent time in Alaska, Oklahoma, Kansas, Ephrata and Soap Lake, Washington. She attended Redmond High School and then went on to attend Bellevue Community College, Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK, and Oklahoma State University (OSU) extension campus in Tahlequah, OK. She was a creative writer, artist, and seasoned traveler, once spending several months in Israel with her father. Nicole had a kind heart and kind word for anyone feeling down. Her smile was genuine and contagious. Nicole loved to visit with her friends and write. She always saw her glass as half full and was thankful and grateful for the simplest pleasures in life. Above all she loved her children and her family who she enjoyed spending time with. As a child, Nicole enjoyed visiting with her grandma and grandpa Notaras, cousins, aunts and uncles in Soap Lake. As an adult she enjoyed going back to visit Soap Lake, attend family parties & get-togethers. Nicole had an especially close relationship with her grandma Lawson (grandma-great) who helped Nicole with her children when they were young. Nicole was very proud of her daughter, niece, and nephews and loved hearing about their accomplishments. Nicole is preceded in death by her beloved son, Matthew LeDesma, her father Anthony Notaras, paternal grandparents George and Joyce Notaras, and maternal grandparents Karl Overbey, Chet Lawson, and Christina Mae Lawson (Sampson). Nicole leaves behind her loving mother, Karen Schuy, daughter Jada Dormaier, son Joshua, sister Christia Notaras, brother-in-law Craig Ostrom, niece and nephews Coral Donnelly, Eli Notaras-Lara, Aaron Ostrom, and many other relatives. A graveside service will be held at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Ferndale, Washington on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 11 am with reception to follow at the family home in Bellingham. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to NAMI of Whatcom County or Whatcom Hospice Foundation
