Naomi Grace DeGolier

August 28, 1933 — August 9, 2025

Bellingham, WA

Naomi Grace DeGolier, age 91, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of her four daughters. Naomi was born on August 28, 1933, in Wilmar, Minnesota, to Philip and Elsie Thompson.

At the age of nine, Naomi and her family moved to Bellingham, Washington, where she spent the rest of her life. She often spoke fondly of her early years in Minnesota and carried those memories with her always.

On November 3, 1967, Naomi married the love of her life, Jack DeGolier. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with adventure and togetherness. They enjoyed many years boating through the San Juan and Canadian Gulf Islands and exploring the country in their motorhome. Naomi treasured time spent with family above all else, and those moments created a lifetime of cherished memories.

Naomi was a remarkable woman—elegant, kind-hearted, and full of grace. She had a quick wit, a sharp sense of humor, and a warm presence that brought joy to those around her. She was known for her compassionate spirit and the gentle way she cared for others.

A woman of many talents, Naomi had a deep appreciation for music and beauty. She was a gifted seamstress, talented knitter, creative homemaker, and a wonderful cook who lovingly passed those traditions down to her four daughters.

Naomi is survived by her daughters: Vicki Evenstad (Bruce), Laurie Cavalli (Fred), Janell Brozovich-Varner (Mark), and Cathy Hooper; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her special niece, Patsy Thompson-Darnell (Rich), with whom she shared a deep and enduring bond; her dear friend, Hope Lawrenson, who brought joy and companionship through the years; and the love of her cherished pets, whose loyalty and affection brought her great comfort.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her parents, Philip and Elsie Thompson; her sisters, Phyllis Moran and Elaine Scott; and her brother, Leon Thompson.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Avalon Center for the compassion and kindness shown to Naomi in her final months, and to Hospice for their dedicated support and comfort during her last days.

Funeral arrangements are currently being planned and will be shared at a later time.

Naomi will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her warmth; her grace, her humor, and the love she gave so generously to those around her. Mom, you will always be young, and you will always be beautiful. We love you!
