Nancy "Snag" King

Nancy “Snag” King, age 71, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2019, at her home in Lynden, WA, with family by her side. She was born October 4, 1948, in Bellingham, WA, to Trevore “Roy” and Florence “Jim” King. Snag graduated from Lynden High School in 1966. She studied at Contra Costa Community College and lived in northern California for several years where she began a career in the medical insurance field. After returning to Lynden, Snag worked at Whatcom Medical Bureau for many years; she, then, retired from Regence BlueShield. She was loved and respected by her coworkers, many of whom remained friends until the end of her life.

Snag loved to spend time with her family and friends. She attended many ball games, motocross events, and dance recitals, cheering on her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and friends. She enjoyed many hobbies, including bowling, knitting, crocheting, fishing, and crabbing. Playing cribbage, card games, and board games with family and friends were some of her favorite activities. Snag was a loving friend and caregiver. She was a proud supporter of Mended Hearts, where she served as a volunteer and Vice President of the Bellingham Chapter.

Snag loved to travel, especially with her best friend, Mary Braun. She and Mary went on several cruises together; one through the Panama Canal, another along the Mexican Riviera, and a third to the British Isles. Snag made three awesome trips to South Africa, including two hunting safaris. Over the years, Snag traveled to most states in the U.S. Her favorite thing about traveling was meeting so many wonderful and kind people, and she made friends wherever she went.

Snag had the biggest heart and a zest for life. She was one of a kind and will be missed so much by her family and friends.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Huntington; her brother, Ted King, and his wife, Mary; and her best friend, Mary Braun. She is survived by her brothers: Richard (Linda) King, James (Kristi) King, Steve King, and Larry (Sarah) King; nephews, Troy (Kaara) King, Wyatt (Monica) King, and Tyson (Samantha) King; nieces, Jami King, Jina King, and Kimberly (Josh) Howell; numerous great- nephews and nieces; and like-daughters, Kris (Mike) Oliver and Margie (Troy) Tenkley.
