Nancy Joyce (Grimes) Galbraith, age 89, peacefully left her earthly home and stepped into heaven into the presence of her Lord and Savior Wednesday, September 22, 2021; on what would have been her 70th Wedding Anniversary.  She was born in Spokane, Washington to Jesse and Elsie (Phillips) Grimes.  Nancy known to most as Nana, attended Mt. Baker High School where she met James Dale Galbraith.  They were married September 22, 1951 at Garden Street Methodist Church in Bellingham, Washington.  They raised their 4 boys James (Jay), Jesse, David and Daniel, in Acme, Washington.  She was actively involved at Acme Presbyterian Church until she moved to Bellingham in 2006 where she joined the Cordata Presbyterian Church. After raising the four boys and her husband’s death in 1990, Nancy worked many years for the Post Office.  She loved to travel and took many trips with family and friends.  She also loved to knit, sew and do crossword puzzles.  After retiring she devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Nancy loved going to sporting events and cheering for her family.  One of her greatest joys was to welcome anyone into her home who needed a “Nana” in their life.  She was a great model of being a servant and left a legacy of love. Nancy leaves behind her sons: Jay (Ralph), Jesse (Sara), David (Nancy); grandchildren, Traci (Mike), David (Jennifer), Trisha, Jennifer (Joe) (Joe), Travis, Tara (Jared), Pete (Bailey) and Tawni (Kyle); great grandchildren, Jesse, Joe, Trey, Calvin, Sara, Ellie, Chloie, Brekken, Willa, Emmet and Wynne;  step great grandchildren, Brittany (Dustin), Stephanie (Joe), Brock, Tyler (Morgan);  step great great grandchildren: Kaylee, Skylar, Leo, Riley and Atly; sister, Dorene Thomas and sister-in-laws Olive Grimes, Jean Galbraith and Mary Lea Galbraith. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, James Dale Galbraith, her son Stuart Daniel Galbraith, Grandson Tyler James Galbraith, her parents and sisters and brothers: Hazel, Ruth, Florence, Evelyn, Dick and Delbert. A memorial services will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021, 1:00 P.M., at the Acme Presbyterian Church, 2054 Valley Highway, Acme, Washington with Pastor Greg Ellis, of Cordata Presbyterian Church officiating.  A private family graveside service will be held before at Saxon Cemetery. The family would like to thank the health providers from Whatcom Hospice for being so loving and kind to Nana during her last days. Memorial donations may be made to Acme Presbyterian Church or to Cordata Presbyterian Church.
