Michael Rudolph Uttecht Jr., passed away at the young age of 71, Sunday, January 10, 2021 in Bellingham, Washington. He joins his late son Michael Jared, his father Michael Uttecht, Sr. and his soulmate Jaime Brownell. Mike was born in Anchorage, Alaska, October 4, 1949 the only child of Ethel M. Dobson Uttecht & Michael R. Uttecht, Sr. He spent his childhood in King Cove, Alaska living with his Grandma Mary and Grandfather Tomas and moved to Ferndale, Washington to attend High School. Mike joined the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam, he moved back to King Cove in 1973 with his wife JoAnne Gorsegner Uttecht. Michael had four children, Coralie Uttecht Gould, Michael Jared Uttecht, Darien Tomas Uttecht & Kurt Leigh Uttecht. Mike worked for a while at Intalco Aluminum, in construction as a Heavy Equipment Operator, fished for crab & salmon, served as Harbor Master and eventually worked for the City of King Cove until he retired. Mike took great pride in smoking and drying salmon which he shared with family & friends along with other Alaskan treats. He also spent a great deal of time in the summer picking berries. Mike was known for his smile & infectious laugh, he loved to joke around and make you laugh. Michael is survived by his mother Ethel Snider; sisters Lona Stafford, Judith and Pamela Anderson; his children Coralie, Darien and Kurt; his grandchildren Dalton Uttecht, Shankell Mack, McKenna Gould, Kianna Uttecht, Carter Uttecht & Seyler Gould; daughter in-laws, Rita Uttecht and Kerri Newman Uttecht. Mike will be cremated and his cremated remains spread in his home of King Cove, Alaska.
