Michael Joseph Smith

Michael Joseph Smith, age 74, of Deming passed away suddenly Sunday, April 24, 2022 in Bellingham.  He was born February 10, 1948 to Neil and Carol (Elsbree) Smith.  Mike was a Vietnam Veteran.  When he returned he met the love of his of his life Becky Hunziker.  They were married November 4, 1968.  Their first son Mike was born in 1969, son John 1970 and daughter Carrie in 1972.  He worked for Alcoa Intalco Aluminum Manufacturing for 45 years before he retired.  Mike loved his wife, kids and grandkids as much as anyone could.  He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandpa, uncle and son.  He is survived by his sons, Mike, John (Sonya); daughter Carrie (Mike); grandchildren, Kimberly (Rigo) Jake (Tracey), Jordon, Brittney, Selena, Shawna, Zoey (Parker) Dylan and 9 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, brothers Steve (Leah) Mark (Karen) and Wade. Mike was preceded in death by wife Becky Smith, parents, Neil and Carol Smith, stepfather, George Vrieling, brothers, Kim Smith, Keith Smith and sister Sheila Smith. 

There will be a celebration of life held, Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at his residence.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
