Michael Thomas McCollum, age 72, of Bellingham, passed away at his home Sunday, September 11, 2022, after a long illness. He was born in Bellingham to his parents Tom and Gloria McCollum (Walker), January 30, 1950 in Bellingham. He is survived by his wife, Kelly Kjobech, daughter, Carrie Ann Flynn, grandchildren, Laney Flynn, Conor Flynn (Camryn) and great-granddaughter to be, Layla. Also, his mother, Gloria Walker, brother Mark McCollum, and sisters, Carrie Unick (Vic), and Bunny Starbuck (Dave) and many cousins, nieces, nephews and forever friends. We all loved him dearly and our hearts are broken. He was one of a kind - quirky, playful, funny and kind, always ready with a story wrapped around his profound bits of wisdom.
For the past 35 years, Mike and his wife Kelly have worked their farm/ food forest dream on the family homestead. Everything he touched out here holds his memory. Mike was a master craftsman, building custom homes for many years, and later, exquisite miniature works of art. He held himself to the highest standards in his craftsmanship and in his music. Over the years, he played in many bands, starting with a 60’s rock group at Queen Anne HS- the Neurotics, and on to many others, including Annie Rose and the Thrillers, Party Line, Swift Current, Scargill, The Atlantics, and later open mike gigs in Bow-Edison. He loved his good old country music, and we believe he’s jammin’ with his buddies now and flying high. Rest in Peace, Mikey. See you on the other side.
