Michael Stanley Maxwell

June 25, 1943 — December 26, 2020

Michael Stanley Maxwell

Michael S. Maxwell, 77, of Maple Falls, Washington, went to be with his Lord, December 26, 2020, due to complications from congestive heart failure.

Michael was born on June 25, 1943 in Akron, Ohio, to Stanley and Wilma.  After graduating from Polytechnic High School, San Francisco, California in 1962, he enlisted in the army. He faithfully served his country for three years, two of which he spent in Army Security Overseas. In 1965, Michael received an honorable discharge along with a medal for good conduct. Michael joined the Santa Rosa Postal Service in 1966. He loved being a Letter Carrier and cheerfully serving the many patrons along his route. In 1973, he transferred to the Bellingham, Washington Postal Service and proudly served there until he retired in October, 1992.

Michael married the love of his life, Anna Marie Icay, on December 8, 1962. She was his greatest joy and her love, his most treasured gift. To fulfill Anna Marie’s dream of raising their family in the country and starting a hobby farm, they left the suburbs of Santa Rosa, California in 1973 and moved to an old homestead in the foothills of Mount Baker. “The Farm”, as it is affectionately known by the family, was his “place to get away from it all”, and a sanctuary to his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. There were horses, cows, pigs, chickens, geese, ducks, turkeys, rabbits, goats and plenty of space to roam. He especially cherished his cats and dogs.

Michael’s hobbies included writing editorials for local newspapers, sharing entertaining life stories, and bragging about his beloved family. He dreamed of driving trucks, but didn’t want to be away from his family, so he collected models instead.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents (Stanley and Wilma Maxwell) and his sister, Melody. He is survived by his brothers, Gary and David. Michael leaves behind his devoted, loving wife, Anna Marie, and their children, Russell (Jeanne) S. Maxwell and Natalie (Daniel) Biamonte, as well as his niece Vicki ( Roger) Zarchinski . He also loved his wonderful grandchildren, Myriah, Cheyanna, and Grace.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm on January 30, 2021 at Valley Church, 904 Nooksack Rd., Everson WA 98247. Please share your memories at (funeral home website)
