Meridale Jane Watson

Meridale Jane Watson entered heaven March 30, 2019. Born in Detroit, Michigan on June 1, 1929, to Ottomar and Dorothy (Schmidt), she grew up in the Detroit and Rochester areas with her two sisters, Valerie {Larry) and Donna {Corky). Mom loved her family farm at Lake Orion where she developed a lifelong love for horses. She met Norman Watson when he came to the farm to haul her horses. They quickly fell in love and married on March 3, 1951. They were married 51 years before he passed away. They had six children, Lynn, Jerry, Guy, Susan, Cathy and David. She was kept busy raising her children and moving across the United States living in Michigan, Arizona, Alabama, Florida, Washington and Williams Lake, British Columbia. Mom grew in her relationship with the Lord Jesus and as the years went by, kept her children in church and prayed fervently for us as was evidenced by notes in her Bible. She wanted all of us to come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ and learn to walk with Him. She wants to see her family again one day in Heaven and as she used to say, "You better be there, or else!" She worked hard caring for her family by taking in laundry and ironing to make ends meet and later went to work outside the home. Mom worked in several nursing homes and as a dietician's aid at St. Joseph Hospital. She enjoyed singing, sewing, gardening, canning, baking, art work, carving, reading and visiting friends and family. Mom had a very hard life which caused her to lean heavily on the Lord. She developed close friends at Lynden's CTK, where she was involved in Coffee & Conversation and Trail Blazers. She cherished her time with those ladies and they helped her through some very difficult times. She missed them dearly when it became too difficult for her to get out. Mom is survived by her sister Donna, sons Jerry, Guy and David, daughter Cathy and stepchildren Carol and Joe. 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. She is predeceased by her parents, husband Norm, sister Val, daughters Susan and Lynn, and stepson Mike. Many thanks to the wonderful nurses and caregivers at the Christian Health Care Center. Your care of our mom and grandma was more than we could have hoped for. Thank you all so much! Also, to the Hospice team, thank you for your kindness, compassion and gentleness you showed mom and the family. God bless you all! Mom will be missed by all of us and we plan to see her again soon, where hearing aids, walkers and wheelchairs will never be needed again. Heaven and Mom are waiting for us to come home. Jesus is The Way. A celebration of her life will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, April 12, 2019 at Good News Fellowship Church, 1252 W. Axton Rd., Ferndale, WA 98248 with Pastor Tim Johnson officiating. Private graveside committal was held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ferndale. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Whatcom Hospice, 2800 Douglas AV, Bellingham, WA 98225.
