Mary Froberg

Mary Froberg age 95, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, July 14, 2025, in Bellingham, WA. Mary was born September 15, 1929, to George and Mary Penner in Central Butte Saskatchewan, Canada. She was the oldest of 5 siblings.

Mary lived in Central Butte until moving to Yarrow, BC in her early teens, where she attended Yarrow High school. After high school she worked at the Empress Restaurant in Chilliwack, BC. As a young adult, Mary would travel to Sumas with her brothers to go roller skating. Mary loved to skate. While at the skating rink in Sumas, she met the love of her life, Floyd Froberg. Floyd and Mary spent the next 56 plus years together before his death in 2006. During the first few years of their marriage, they had 4 daughters, Colleen, Marlene, Darlene and Eilene. Five years later they had their son, Doug. Floyd and Mary moved multiple times throughout Whatcom County before settling in a condo at Ankar Retirement Park in Bellingham. Mary worked as a waitress for her entire career and was owner/operator of the Cedars Café in Ferndale, Wa. She loved her family and her work. Mary retired after a fall that severely injured her right arm.

Mary was proceeded in death by her husband Floyd Ernest Froberg, Son-in-laws Frank Blankenship and John Perez, brothers George (Betty) Penner, Dave (Lydia) Penner, and Henry Penner. Mary is survived by sister Martha (Jim) Boyd, daughters, Colleen McAlpine, Marlene (Rick) Edin, Jo (Cecil Duronso, Babe Perez (Bud Hoff) and son Doug (Doneva) Froberg. Grandchildren Travis (Lori) Blankenship, Kelly (Coady) Pike, Tami (Rob) Haggith, Christie (Mike) Wolfe, Cecil Duronso III, Chad Unick, Sandi Perez, Andrea (Jeff) Ashmore, Lesha (Peter) Olsen, Matt Perez, Brent (Jessica) Froberg, Bryce (Chelsey) Froberg; step-grandchildren, Mark Edin, Denise Edin. As well as numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Mary’s life will be on Friday, August 1, 2025, 1:00pm at The Ferndale Event Center, 5715 Barrett Road, Ferndale, WA 98248.
