Martin Joseph Vezzetti

Martin Joseph Vezzetti passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, at home with his loving wife by his side. While his family grieves his passing, they find comfort in knowing he has gone home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Martin was born in Bellingham, Washington, on May 31, 1934, to Martin and Annie Vezzetti. Raised in Blaine, he developed the faith, work ethic, and love of family and community that would guide his life.

A proud Blaine Borderite, Martin graduated from Blaine High School with the Class of 1952. He attended Western Washington College for two years before serving in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958 and the Army Reserve from 1958 to 1962. The values of duty, discipline, and service remained with him throughout his life.

After returning to Blaine, Martin began his career with Border Brokerage Company, where he worked until retiring at age 59. Through the close-knit brokerage community, he met the love of his life, Hilda, who worked at a competing brokerage. Their meeting grew into a beautiful marriage that lasted 57 years.

Together, Martin and Hilda built a life centered on faith, love, and family while raising their three sons, Bruce (Patty), Robb (Maria), and Wayne (Rachel). Martin's greatest joy was watching his family grow to include seven cherished grandchildren: Brian, Aiden, Isabella, Hunter, Jordyn, Ashton, and Evan.

Martin was an amazing Papa to his seven grandchildren. Whether they were competing in sports, performing in concerts, receiving awards, participating in school activities, or celebrating other milestones, he was there. He especially treasured watching each of his grandchildren graduate from high school, taking great pride in the young men and women they had become. His family knew they could always count on seeing him in the bleachers, sitting in an auditorium, or smiling proudly from the audience. More than anything, his faithful presence showed they were deeply loved and supported.

Sports were one of Martin's lifelong passions. He was a devoted supporter of the Blaine Borderites, spending countless hours coaching his sons in Little League baseball, teaching them not only the game but also integrity, teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship. As the years passed, he faithfully followed the athletic journeys of his children and grandchildren, rarely missing a game, no matter the weather or distance.

Martin also devoted himself to serving others. He served on the Blaine School Board from 1980 to 1991, volunteered at the Blaine Food Bank for 25 years, and served as an Eucharistic Minister at St. Anne's Catholic Church. He lived out his Christian faith through kindness, humility, and compassion, never seeking recognition for his service.

Above all, Martin was a loving husband, devoted father, proud papa, caring uncle, faithful friend, and a man of Christian faith. His life was defined by love—for God, his family, his community, and the many young people he encouraged throughout his life.

Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Vezzetti Sr. and Annie Vezzetti; his sisters, Josephine and Virginia; and his nephew, Chucky.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Hilda; his sons, Bruce (Patty), Robb (Maria), and Wayne (Rachel); his cherished grandchildren, Brian, Aiden, Isabella, Hunter, Jordyn, Ashton, and Evan; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff of Whatcom Hospice for the extraordinary compassion and care they provided during Martin's final days.

A Funeral Mass celebrating Martin's life will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 604 H Street, Blaine, WA 98230, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., to be followed by a reception in the parish hall. Family and friends are welcome to gather, share memories, and celebrate Martin's life together.

In place of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Whatcom Hospice Foundation or the Blaine Food Bank, two organizations that reflect Martin's lifelong commitment to serving others.

"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever." — Psalm 23:6

Martin's legacy of faith, family, service, and unconditional love will continue to live on in all who knew him.
