Marshall “Matt” Jackson Prudhon, Jr., age 81, beloved husband, father of three, and Opa to nine grandchildren, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023 at his home in Ferndale, Washington surrounded by his family. Matt was born on September 19, 1942 in Benton, Minnesota to Marshall and Evangeline (Studanski) Prudhon. After graduating from Mounds View High School (White Bear Lake, Minnesota) in 1960, he joined the U.S. Air Force and left for basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. He spent the rest of his enlistment in Europe, attached to NATO as a Telecommunications Specialist.
During his service in the USAF, he met his wife Gisela Mersdorf in Germany. They returned to the states and tied the knot at South Shore Trinity Lutheran Church in White Bear Lake, Minnesota and were married for 58 years. They spent the first years of their marriage back in Europe and upon returning to the states, he obtained an electrical engineering degree from the University of Minnesota and accepted a job offer in San Carlos, California. In 1980, Matt and a partner founded a telecommunications engineering firm. And after selling the company in 2002, he retired to Ferndale, Washington.
Matt loved hunting, fishing and playing golf with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife and three children Mark (Kristen) Prudhon, Nicole (Steve) Mannina and Sean (Carron) Prudhon. He will be deeply missed. May God grant him peace.
