Marlene Griffin of Renton, Washington, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away at the age of 88 on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. She is survived by her four daughters, Cathy (Dean) Tarbill, Terri (Kevin) Towner, Erin Griffin and Barbara (Lee) Hutchins, Grandchildren Richard and Joseph (Maude) Tarbill, Jesse (Briean) and John Kerby, Lindsey and Nathan Hutchins and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, granddaughter Leigh Anne Tarbill, brother Richard (Dick) Kitzel and sister Audrey Sheets.
Marlene was born on May 27, 1935, in Blaine, Washington, to Richard and Irma (Yeager) Kitzel. She was the oldest of three children whom she was close to throughout her life. They grew up on the family farm on “H” street in Blaine, WA.
In 1958, Marlene moved from the farm to work in Seattle. Soon after she was introduced to her future husband, Raymond Griffin, and they were married on March 5th of 1960. Marlene and Ray moved from Seattle to Renton in 1973.
Marlene enjoyed her family, neighbors, and volunteering. She was active in her church, taught Bible study in her home and was active in teaching and helping with children’s ministries. She loved working in her yard, oil painting, cooking and spending time with friends and neighbors.
A graveside service was held at Haynie Cemetery in Custer, WA on Saturday April 27, 2024.
Her Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at 1pm on June 15, 2024 at East Renton Community Church 13232 156th Ave SE Renton, WA 98059.
