Mark Rehberger passed away peacefully at his home in Lynden on July 13, 2026, at the age of 56.
Born in Bellingham on December 18, 1969, Mark was raised in Ferndale alongside his three brothers. He graduated from Ferndale High School in 1988. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at just eight years old, Mark faced this lifelong challenge with constant persistence and resilience, learning to manage it from a very young age. Mark was a hard worker who took great pride in what he did. Early in his career, he spent several years at Intalco, but his favorite job was operating heavy equipment for the International Union of Operating Engineers. His passion for helping people also led him to many years as a volunteer fireman and EMT with the Whatcom County Fire Department. Though his health eventually required him to step back and choose a different path, his recent years working with FedEx brought him a wonderful new community and several great friends. Throughout his life, Mark found joy in the things he loved most: virtually anything involving the outdoors (hunting, fishing and camping), playing the drums, and barbecuing for those he cared about. Above all, his favorite moments were spent simply hanging out with his family and friends, especially his son Logan. Mark had a warm personality, a fabulous gift in the kitchen, and a genuine willingness to help anyone at the drop of a hat. He made a lasting, positive impact on everyone who knew him and will be deeply missed. Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta "Bobi" Rehberger, and his brother, Steve Rehberger. He is survived by his beloved son, Logan Rehberger; his father, Larry Rehberger; his brothers, Chris and Ken (Laura) Rehberger, David (Kathy) Miller, his sister Shannon Weeks; many nieces and nephews, and a close circle of family and friends. A celebration of Mark's life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, 10:00am at Faith Community Church, 586 Birch Bay Lynden Road, Lynden, WA 98264.
