Mark Paul Newton, age 64, of Bellingham passed away at his home Sunday, May 13, 2018. He was born January 26, 1954 in Bellingham to parents Gregory L. and Doris M. (Sandness) Newton. Mark graduated from Sehome High School with the Class of 1972.  Mark’s passion was Downhill Skiing; he was one of the original members of the Komo Kids Ski School and the Komo Kulshan Race Team. In the early 1970’s Mark trained with the Pre-Olympic Ski Team in Aspen, CO. He coached the Komo Kulshan Jr. Race Team at Mt. Baker. Over the years Mark enjoyed several occupations; Stone Masonry working alongside his father in Aspen, CO, Commercial Fishing in Alaska and Puget Sound, Purse Seining and Crabbing and several summers managing the family owned business Clark’s Store in Point Roberts, WA. In later years Mark worked Maintenance in local Refineries. He met and married Kerri Jackson, their son Tyler was the pride of Mark’s life. The family spent many weekends Skiing, Camping and Fishing at Silver Lake and traveling to Motor Cross Races. Mark lived life to the fullest; he worked hard, played hard and loved deeply.  He was preceded in death by his mother Doris Barnes and his brother Keith Newton. Mark is survived by his son, Tyler Newton; stepson, Ryan Brown (Amanda); his father, Greg Newton; sister Kris Peterson (Ken) his twin sister, Nancy Kromer (Chip), half-sister Megan Newton and former wife Kerri Newton; numerous nieces, nephews with which he had a special heart connection, many relatives and friends. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the Squalicum Boathouse, 2600 Harbor Loop Dr., Bellingham, WA 98225. Memorial contributions can be made to your favorite charity in Marks memory.
