Marilyn Ann Meece

Marilyn Ann Meece, given by God to Ralph and Doris Meece on August 23, 1940 and was called back to Heaven, Saturday, July 29, 2017 sitting alone in her favorite chair probably petting her beloved cats. Marilyn grew up a feisty red head on Mill Hill in Bellingham, WA.  Her love of horses, cats and all other animals defined her life.  She was taught the love of growing beautiful flowers from her mother which followed her from home to home.  Her childhood friends, Edna Bloomgren-Hurlbert and Lana Massey, joined Marilyn in the horse-riding stage of her life - the memories lasting a lifetime. After graduation from Bellingham High School in 1958, Marilyn lived a short while in San Diego, CA. with her aunt and returned to Washington for work in Bellingham and Seattle as a Dental Assistant.  In later years Marilyn was an endearing Retail Sales person.  She made close and lasting friendships at Bath and Body Works, Coldwater Creek and the Burlington Outlet Mall. Upon retirement, Marilyn moved back to Mill Hill from Mount Vernon, WA.  She had time to renew old friendships and start new ones with her drumming, meditation and artistic groups.  Her spiked red hair, perfect make-up and fashion were more that of a 50 year old than a 76 year old. Her companion, Dean Riley, preceded her in death after a stroke. Marilyn is survived by her beloved cats; daughter, Terri Denson of Brawley, CA; adored-brother Don and Marg Meece of Burlington, WA; niece, SaraLyn Larsen (Eric) of Stanwood, WA; nephew, Matthew Meece (Kaley) of Stanwood; 5 great-nieces and dear friend, Jodi Wagner. She also was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Doris (Gardner) Meece, and her grandson, Blake Denson. Marilyn's love of animals was something to wonder at.  Between feeding stray cats, squirrels, birds, deer and anything that needed her, she leaves a hole for others to fill. Memorials are respectfully appreciated to Purrfect Pals (pet rescue) - 230 McRea Rd. NE, Arlington, WA.98223. Please join friends and family for a graveside memorial service Wednesday, August 9, 2017, 2:00 PM., at Greenacres Cemetery, 5700 Northwest Drive, Ferndale, WA 98248, with a reception to follow.
