Margaret "Peggy" Schumacher

Margaret “Peggy” Schumacher, 90, of Ferndale, Washington, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026. She lived a life defined by family, love, and devotion to the people who meant the most to her.

Peggy was born on June 7, 1936, to John T. and Jeanette (O’Dell) Reilly in Bellingham, Washington. At age 10, she moved with her family to Seattle and graduated from West Seattle High School in 1954. She met her husband, Lawrence L. Schumacher, while participating in a weekly bowling league, and they married on July 7, 1962. Peggy worked in the family business, Larry Seafoods, and in banking for more than 20 years. Outside of work, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends. After retiring, she returned to Ferndale and spent her later years traveling around the country by motorhome, gardening, and enjoying time with loved ones.

Peggy is survived by her loving spouse, Lawrence; her children and their spouses, John and Susan Schumacher, Doug, and Tara Schumacher; Diane and Ken Martin her grandchildren, Jacob Martin, and Mackenzie Martin; and her sisters, Suzanne Hearon, Janice Rogerson, and Patricia Reilly. She also leaves behind many close family members and friends whose lives she touched throughout her 90 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Maureen Johnson and Myrna Willanger.

A funeral Mass and celebration of Peggy’s life will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5781 Henderickson Avenue, Ferndale, WA 98248 on October 13, 2026. Viewing will be held 9:30am-10:15am. Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Burial will follow the Mass at Enterprise Cemetery, 7041 Vista Drive, Ferndale, WA 98248. Following the burial, family and friends are invited to a reception at St. Joseph Catholic Church to gather in Peggy’s honor and celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
