On Tuesday September 15 2026, surrounded by his loving family, Marcus ‘Marc’ Eugene Creech, passed away after 73 trips around the sun.

Marc was born to Albert Creech Jr and Betty Rhea (Pendergraft) Creech in Springdale, Arkansas on August 18 1953. He grew up with a younger sister Debbie and a much younger brother Sandy. Marc was part of a shooting club that won a state championship in 1966 when Marc was 13 years old. He started playing the alto saxophone when he was in first grade! This was just the beginning of a lifelong passion that spanned from childhood playing in school bands all through his academic career, to the Jansen Jazz Orchestra and The Bell Peppers pep band, that he was a part of in his final years.

As a teenager Marc enjoyed his cars and his music, something that would follow him for the rest of his life. Marc jumped right into life welcoming his first daughter, Mindy into the world in 1972 at the ripe old age of 19. Marc had a strong work ethic and decided on a career in the military, enlisting on May 28th 1974. In 1977 Marc was blessed with another daughter, Melissa. In 1983, as active duty military Marc was facing the knowledge that he was likely up for an overseas transfer. Recently divorced, Marc requested a transfer to a base on the US mainland to stay as close as possible to his daughters, even though that ended up meaning living across the country.

On that assignment in California in 1984, Marc met 22 year-old Julia McGarry in a country western bar. They danced their first night away and 4 weeks later Marc whispered in her ear, “What do you think about next June?”. They were married June 22 1985 in Whittier, CA. Marc and Julia welcomed their first son and his third child, Daniel in 1986. They went on to welcome two more children, daughters Amber in 1990 and Ashley in 1994. Marc retired from the Air Force in 1995 as a Master Sergent after 21 years, 4 months and 3 days of service. While in the service Marc earned numerous awards such as the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He also earned the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, a feat no doubt achieved in part by his childhood days of competitive shooting.

After his retirement from the military Marc moved his family with Julia up to Ferndale, WA, a small rural town near the Canadian border. Once in Washington Marc worked at Sysprog Inc. as the Head Technician in Bellingham. He went onto work for Camelot Computers, teach at Bellingham Technical College and eventually open his own business, Renaissance Computer Services. Marc loved working on computers, he liked the puzzle of figuring things out. He also loved being able to assist people despite their ability to pay – there were many instances throughout the years of him accepting baked goods, cooked meals, etc as payment. There is no better display of his love of work than the fact that he was working on a client’s computer up until a couple days before his passing. I am happy to report he fixed her computer and she was able to do what she needed.

No matter how great his career achievements were, Marc was so much more. He was the kind of guy who would hear you out and help you work out the kinks in your thoughts without judgement. The thing about Marc that seems to stand out the most is his generosity. He always wanted to help but never demanded recognition. He’d just always be there, in the background, ever the backstage support. Many people cheered Julia with the progression of Kids in Motion Therapy Clinic. Most didn’t notice the silent muscle behind every event and financial sacrifice of a man who believed in the vision equally. Marc helped an innumerable amount of deserving organizations throughout his life, to list only a few: the Special Olympics, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Computers for Kids, Kids in Motion Therapy Clinic and his church family.

Marc’s greatest achievement ever though was his family. He loved each one of his 5 kids tremendously and took on the ever-evolving role of father with pride and a good dose of humor. He was an exceptional Grandpa who thoroughly enjoyed that title and loved his grandchildren for all the brightness they brought to his world. All of this was made possible due to a loving and enduring marriage of 41 long and full years.

There are just no other words - Marc will be missed.

We will be celebrating Marc’s life Friday, Sept. 25, 2026 with the service starting at 5:30PM with a reception following at Norway Hall, 1419 North Forest Street, Bellingham, WA 98225.
