Obituary

Lyman Bradford “Brad” Munger, age 79, passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2026. Born on November 4, 1946, in Portland, Oregon, Brad lived a life defined by devotion to his family, quiet strength, and a deep appreciation for the people and pastimes that brought him joy.

Brad graduated from Bellingham High School in 1966 before proudly serving his country in the United States Navy, completing two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. His service reflected the resilience, discipline, and commitment that would guide him throughout his life.

Following his military service, Brad built a long and respected career as an electrical crane operator at Intalco/Alcoa, where he worked for more than 40 years. Known for his reliability and strong work ethic, he earned the respect of his coworkers and took great pride in providing for his family.

Outside of work, Brad found his greatest happiness in the outdoors and through sports. He was an avid hunter, a dedicated softball player and coach, and someone who genuinely valued the camaraderie that sports create. He also loved spending summers at Lake Roosevelt, Washington, where he enjoyed tubing and water skiing with family and friends. In later years, nothing meant more to him than watching his grandchildren compete and grow—rarely missing an opportunity to be there and always cheering them on with pride. Brad also had a lifelong love for dogs, always having one or more faithfully by his side, and was known for giving just about everyone he met a humorous nickname that stuck.

A lifelong sports fan, Brad faithfully followed the Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics, Baltimore Orioles and Indianapolis Colts, celebrating their victories and standing by them through every season.

Brad is survived by his loving wife of over 51 years, Susan Munger; his daughter, Sharon Neal, and her spouse, Carl Neal; his son, Matthew Munger, and his spouse, Kara Munger; and his cherished grandchildren, Brynn Neal, Avery Neal, Peyton Munger, Kinsley Neal, Brooks Munger, and Kolten Munger. He is also survived by his niece, Susanne Jorgenson; his nephews, Steven Jorgenson and Kevin Jorgenson; several great-nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends, Andy and Carolyn Miller.

Brad will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, a loyal friend, and a man who found joy in life’s simple, meaningful moments. His steady presence, sense of humor, and unwavering support for his family will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
