Lucile Landon Fink Fagg

August 28, 1945 — June 10, 2023

Bellingham, WA

Lucile Landon Fink Fagg, “Dutchie”, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2023, at her daughter’s home in Bellingham, WA after a long and hard-fought battle with lung cancer. She was 77 years old. Dutchie was born in Riverside, NJ on August 28, 1945, to the late Charles H. and Lucile (Engels) Fink. She grew up in Beverly, NJ and spent many summers either boating or waterskiing on the Delaware River. She loved the ocean as well and had so many wonderful memories to share about her time spent on Long Beach Island with her family. She later moved to Kansas to be closer to her son Stephen and remained there until moving to Washington to be cared for by her daughter, Wendy, in her final months.

As an animal lover, Dutchie always asked for a pony for Christmas, and told the story in her later days of how mad she was to never find one under the Christmas tree. Keeping with her desire to own a horse, she later owned numerous different horses over the years, and continued to love them her entire life. She also loved cats, and was so very thankful to have her cat, Sweetie Pie, with her during her final days. Dutchie was known as “Mema” by her three grandchildren, whom she adored, and spent many memorable moments with throughout the years.  As an avid photographer, Dutchie loved to photograph her grandchildren, flowers, old buildings, barns, and of course, horses and cats. She had a particular love of sunflowers and looked forward to photographing them each year when they bloomed in Kansas.

Dutchie will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving mother, grandmother, wife, and as a genuinely kind friend. She met many wonderful people over the years and made lasting friendships which she cherished throughout her days.

Dutchie is survived by her brother Charles H. (Rebecca) Fink Jr. of Mt. Laurel, NJ; son Stephen Lane (Rachael Stewart) of Hepler, KS; daughter Wendy (Kevin) Maruska of Bellingham, WA; 3 grandchildren Alex Maruska (Mason Daniel), Jessica Maruska, and Nicholas Maruska; husband Trenton Fagg of Emporia, KS; nieces Nancy Schneider, Andrea (Ethan) Warrick, Angelique Bouffiou, and nephews Scott (Karen) Schneider, and Kevin Fink.

The family will be holding a private ceremony at a later date.
