Lois Margaret Clement, age 97 of Bellingham WA passed away peacefully Friday August 22, 2025. Lois Margaret Anderson was born June 10, 1928 in Vancouver, British Columbia to parents Fred and Irene Margaret (Stokes) Anderson. She graduated from Kitsilano High School before meeting and marrying Merle L Clement in 1948. Merle and Lois purchased the family home on Lakeway Drive in Bellingham and built their lives together raising four children.
Lois had a 31-year career with the Bellingham Public Library from 1966 to 1997. She embarked on a wide variety of union and political councils. Lois’s accomplishments included, President of Local 114 City of Bellingham Employees, Union Council 2 Executive Board, Public Disclosure Commission (appointed by Governor Gary Locke), Delegate of the Democratic National Conventions of 1996 and 2000 along with several more. A stellar career made from pure drive, belief, and determination.
Lois was proceeded in death by her ex-husband Merle L Clement and beloved son Barry M Clement. Lois is survived by her daughter Margaret (Ed) Serquina of Kauai HI, Daughter Gail (Thom) Daun of Allyn WA, Son Ross (Susan) Clement of Bellingham WA, and Daughter-in-law Vicki Clement of Bellingham WA.
She gave unconditional love to her 7 grandchildren, Rochelle, Erin, Michael, Stefan, Josh, Heather, and Isaac. She also lived long enough to enjoy her 16 great grandchildren.
Lois has been interned at Woodlawn Cemetery and had a celebration of life on Kauai HI.
