Linnea Christine MacDonald

March 12, 1943 — March 10, 2024

Bellingham

Linnea Christine MacDonald passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, March 10, 2024, with her husband Jim by her side. She was the daughter of Joe and Thelma Bacchi and was born on March 12, 1943, in Sacramento, California. She was 80 years old.

Linnea is survived by her husband, Jim MacDonald; her brother, Paul Bacchi; her three sons, Kurt Preston, Eric Hammond, and Marc Hammond; two daughters, Tavonya Green and Tabitha MacDonald; and her grandchildren, Chelsea Hammond, Athena Mitchell, Amanda Nelson, Josh Preston, Kiera and Zachary Thurston. She also had many great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.

Linnea and Jim were married on February 14, 1981, and shared 43 years together. She was known for her kindness and gentle spirit, touching the lives of many and leaving a lasting impact. She was a vibrant woman who lived life to the fullest and will be greatly missed.

Linnea was baptized on May 17, 1971, and began full-time service as a regular pioneer in the mid-1980s, continuing until the early 1990s. She later attended Sawyer Business College and graduated as a paralegal on November 2, 1990. Linnea retired before moving to Bellingham, Washington, in May 2006.

Despite her health challenges, Linnea's passion for life never waned. She loved to travel and had a fondness for places like Mendocino, Monterey, Carmel, and Capitola, California. She especially enjoyed the coast and its charming shops. Last year, she embarked on a memorable cruise to Alaska and a trip to Idaho to visit her great-grandchildren.

Linnea held a deep love for the Bible and found comfort in the scripture Isaiah 33:24: "And no resident will say, 'I am sick.'" She looked forward to a future where suffering would cease and the earth would be restored to paradise. She anticipated the resurrection, when she would be reunited with loved ones who had passed away.

Linnea's remarkable sense of humor brought joy to those around her. She loved sharing cartoons and funny sayings with her husband, family, and friends, making them smile and laugh. She will be dearly missed.
