Linda Ruth Jacoby

Although we lost our Mother and good friend, Linda, on July 16th – we find comfort in celebrating and paying tribute to her warm heart and joy filled life.   Born, Linda Ruth DeMerice in Whatcom County  on September 27, 1941, Linda was also spent time in her younger years in White Salmon, WA.   

Upon returning to Whatcom County she graduated Bellingham High School in 1959, and married Richard Jacoby in September 1960.   Richard and Linda raised 6 children in Whatcom County, and later moved to Skagit County where they remained until Richard’s passing in December 19, 2012.   Linda again returned to Whatcom County to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Linda went back to school in mid-life and became a registered nurse.  She had a true compassion toward those around her and enjoyed her days with Home Health where she was able to give care and support to those who needed it most.   She treated all patients, regardless of circumstance, with the utmost dignity and respect.

Linda enjoyed traveling with friends; she was always in the midst of a good book; she loved pizza and peppermint ice cream.   Best of all, she could always be counted on for great conversation.  She was never at a loss for words and spoke honestly and sincerely, always from her heart and with no judgement in her discussion.

She loved her church, God, and most of all her family. Her final two weeks were spent exactly as she wished her last days to be – in the presence of those closes to her. Not even the nurses’ warnings of reduced conversation stopped her insistence to visit, share, and spend time with each of us – for that we are all very, very grateful.

Linda’s faith was undaunting. Even after fighting breast cancer in 2006 and amidst her recent bout with lung cancer, she never complained and always reminded us that she was at peace and ready to meet her Lord.   She was looking forward to seeing all those who passed before her and we can only envy the conversations they must be enjoying together now. 

Linda is preceeded in death by her husband, Richard, father James DeMerice, mother Nellie Komen, brother Larry DeMerice, stepfather John Komen, stepbrother Terry Komen and grandson Christopher.

Linda is survived by daughters Pam (Stan) Adams, Cathy Davis, Sons Rick Jacoby, Mike (Cindy) Jacoby, Tim (Laura) Jacoby and Dan Jacoby, sister-in-law Ann VanMiert, brother-in-law Hans VanMiert, brother-in-law Darrell Jacoby, stepbrother John and wife Diane Komen, and  stepsister Tamson Templeton.

Linda’s Grandchildren are James (April), Eli (Kayla), Gabe (Cornelia), Tom, Tara (Jake), Adriana, Corey (Brandi), Michaela, Nick (Maddie), Tyler (Amber), and Lydia. Great grandchildren are Oliver, Maverick, Leo, Isaiah and Hannah.  

We invite you to join the family in our celebration of Linda’s life on Thursday, August 16th at 1:00 at Log Show Grounds in Deming, WA .  We welcome stories and remembrances of a woman we all loved so dearly. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice, Acme Presbyterian Church, Cancer Research, or any charity of your choice.
