Leslie Ann Elsasser

December 22, 1944 — June 30, 2025

Lynden

Leslie Ann Elsasser, age 80, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, at her home in Lynden, WA. She bravely fought a two-year battle with GI cancer. Leslie was born on December 22, 1944, in Bellingham, WA, to parents Lester and Mattie (Oban) Sturtz. She graduated from Bellingham High School in 1962 and lived her entire life in Whatcom County.

Leslie married the love of her life, Marvin Elsasser, on February 6, 1965, and they had 60 wonderful years together. She was a loving wife, Mom, Nana, Aunt and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Robert and Larry Sturtz.

Leslie is survived by her husband Marvin, their two daughters, Karie Elsasser, Kristie and husband Tim Mark, her grandchildren Kyle (Allison Winterburn) Elsasser, Mandee Olson, Preston Mark, and Landon Mark, great grandchildren Daymon Olson and Stevie Elsasser, sisters-in-law Bev Johnson and Judy Sturtz. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends that she cherished.

Leslie and Marv owned and operated Marv’s Plumbing and retired in 2010. They enjoyed many years of power boating in the San Juan islands, RV’ing across the United States, and went on numerous cruises around the world. Whether it was piloting their 39’ Bayliner to Desolation Sound or guiding their 42’ motorhome to the east coast- she was fearless! Leslie was an avid gardener and always had a picture-perfect yard and flowers. Her passion in recent years was knitting gorgeous hats that she enjoyed selling at craft shows and gifting to her family and friends.

Without a doubt, Leslie’s greatest joy in life was her family and friends. She made everyone she met feel special! She enjoyed entertaining in her home and making every holiday special for her family. Her children and grandchildren knew that she loved the Lord and that she was always praying for them. She wanted to see them all in Heaven someday. To her family, she leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, faith and courage to conquer anything.

A memorial will be held on July 11 at 1 pm at Christ the King Church in Bellingham, WA. A private family burial will be held  at Greenacres Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Whatcom Hospice or North County Christ the King, where Leslie attended for many years.

The family would like to thank the numerous friends, relatives and caregiver Tanya that have helped with the care of Leslie and Marvin these last several months. Funeral arrangements are coordinated by Sig’s Funeral Home.
