Leroy Wesley Woolever

Leroy Woolever passed away on June 20, 2020 in Bellingham at the age of 94.  He was born on March 15, 1926 in Cloverdale, Oregon.  For many years he lived in Sumas, WA and found a home at the Sumas Advent Christian Church.  Every year he was honored with a birthday cake.  Every month he enjoyed the potluck dinner.  He was a simple man that loved to color and glue clippings out of magazines and news print onto items for his art projects. Several years he took on the project of decorating mission banks with magazine clippings for collecting mission money.  He loved music, plucking the strings on his guitar and tinkering on his keyboard.  After he left Sumas he lived with a family in Everson for many years before making his home for the last decade at Rosewood Villa in Bellingham.  He missed his good friend Suzanne when she passed away a few months ago.  His room overflowed with his art projects, papers, pens, markers, scissors, glue and everything you could imagine. Leroy would tell stories of when he was a child on the farm including milking cows and all the crazy things that would happen. He was kind and peaceful. He loved every visit and never wanted you to leave. His favorite store was the $1 store giving him a chance to buy another bag full of art supplies.  Leroy was a man of faith in Jesus Christ with a constant smile and a joy in his heart.
