Leroy Kelly
Gunderson
Sep 10, 1965 — Jul 17, 2026
Leroy Kelly Gunderson, age 60, of Bellingham, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Friday, July 17.
Leroy was known for his thoughtful, kind, and resilient spirit. He had a gift for brightening the lives of those around him with his humor, collection of random facts, and caring nature. Outgoing and fiercely protective of those he loved, Leroy made lasting impressions on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He was born on September 10, 1965, to Robert and K. Sue Gunderson (Jones). Although Leroy was never formally married, he built a loving family with Jody-Lee Kehoe (Stevens) for over a decade, embracing and raising her three children as his own: Jolene Partlow, Daylene (Michael) Todd (Partlow), and Derek Partlow. Together they created countless cherished memories through fishing, crabbing, clam digging, beachcombing, camping, and many other outdoor adventures. Leroy truly found joy in nature and loved spending time outside with his family.
An avid pool player, Leroy spent many years competing in billiard leagues throughout Whatcom County, where he earned numerous tournament victories. He was also a devoted fan of NASCAR and NHRA racing and rarely missed an opportunity to enjoy the excitement of the sport.
Leroy grew up attending Evergreen Community Church and, in recent years, was a faithful member of Spring Church, where he actively participated in serving his community. His quiet generosity and willingness to help others reflected the compassion that guided his life.
Leroy is lovingly remembered by his brothers, Jeremy, Jeff, Jason Gunderson, and Paul Knight; his sisters, Shannon Brown, and Debbie Braithwaite-Anderson; his children, Jolene Partlow, Daylene (Michael) Todd (Partlow), and Derek Partlow; and his beloved grandchildren, Thomas, Levi, and Charlee Todd. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and K. Sue Gunderson (Jones), and his grandparents, Frank Stanley Gunderson and Ruby A. Gunderson (Benson).
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Lighthouse Mission in honor of Leroy's compassionate heart and lifelong desire to help others.
